Late last month, a close friend told me about “rabbit, rabbit.” Supposedly, at the beginning of each month, if the first thing you say when you wake up is “rabbit, rabbit,” you’ll have good luck for the rest of the month. So…when I woke up this October, I made sure they were the first words out of my mouth. Well…it’s almost half way through this month and I must say, things are very busy and things are going very well.
Autumn in Boston is just about in full swing. The leaves are turning, the weather is getting colder, and the semester is almost halfway done. Time here is going so fast; it’s weird to think about picking classes for next semester in a couple of weeks. With so much to see and so much to do, it’s no wonder time here is flying by. Here are a couple of recent happenings in Boston in case you were too busy studying and missed out on the fun:
A few weekends ago, the MassCann/NORML Freedom Rally, or Hempfest, took place on Boston Common at high noon (get it?). Activists, supporters, reformers and blazed, angry teenagers took to the Common in support of decriminalizing marijuana for all purposes. There’s always something interesting going down on Boston Common. Check out the images!
Boston is home to many competitive eating contests, but this one would have given Popeye a run for his money. Contestants braved the rain to consume as many pounds of B. Good’s homemade Spinach as they could in five minutes. “Pretty Boy,” ranked 25th in the world as a competitive eater, dominated the competition by eating more than seven pounds of spinach in 5 minutes, winning him free burgers for a year from B. Good’s and everlasting respect and glory. Help yourself to a serving of pictures…
Last weekend the Old North Church in the North End in conjunction with the Animal Rescue League of Boston, held their annual Blessing of the Pets ceremony. People could bring their pets, pictures of their pets, or even toys of their pets and have them blessed by the reverends. They also had animals available for adoption. Seeing ol’ Fido being blessed was a sight to see, but I thought all dogs went to heaven…Check out some of the images.
Time goes by so fast here in Boston. There are so many things happening. Keep an eye open and your camera ready or you might miss out on some of them. Rabbit, rabbit.
