It's comforting to think of journalism as undergoing a transition rather than be at the risk of dying out altogether. It's important to keep in mind that this kind of a change had happened to several other industries in the past and the remedy is usually in the vicinity of the problem. Journalism is not chained to the success of newsprint -- nor to any other form of delivery. It is a process that brings integrity to the process of gathering and presenting news, information and informed commentary. Smart people will always value good journalism because it gives them an advantage over the less informed. Although the set-up to this piece was depressing to this ex-newspaperman, I couldn’t agree more with the conclusion.
